What I Know From My Web Stats

It is amazing what you can learn from your blog when you look at your web stats:

  • It’s football season! This is proven by all of the people searching for Packer Elvis, The Bears Still Suck Polka, and the famed Johnsonville Truck/Grill.
  • The Bratwurst seen around the world! For some unknown reason, websites around the world have linked to this image. From German newspapers, to media forums, to blogs, to websites surrounding lots of different topics, this image has been embedded and linked to world over. While I am not sure why, I do have to admit – that is certainly one compelling bratwurst.
  • Edamame is in the height of it’s season. People are searching and searching for ways to make it. So am I! Someone wanted to know how to make Edamame Pesto. That sounds interesting – so if you find out how, could you let me know? Thanks.
  • Another poor soul asks Google, “Can you get ramps in the winter?”. Alas, I believe that answer is no. It’s a shame. I love ramps.
  • I would say that there are a ton of people out there looking for a Chocolate Gravy recipe, but it is probably more correct to state that there are a few people out there looking for the recipe, and they all find my blog because I’m the only person on the internet who has ever written about Chocolate Gravy and Biscuits!
  • Madison’s Isthmus has continued to feature bloggers. They first introduced our blog to their readers in their print newspaper, and from my stats I have discovered that they refer to Cuisine Capers often.
  • And last but not least, there is a blog aggregator in town that sends people my way: Dane101.net. This is very cool. And one day, when I have spare time (heh), I may give them some competition. About 3 years ago I registered “Blogging Madison” as a domain, and my concept at the time is much like what they implemented on their blog. Kudos to them for moving forward with it.
