Pedroncelli Winery

On the second day of touring the Dry Creek region of Sonoma County, we visited Pedroncelli.

Pedroncelli is one of a number of multi-generational family wineries having been founded in 1927.  The winery consists of a collection of rustic farm buildings a few miles off Dry Creek Road.  We had visited the winery on one of our previous trips about ten years ago and found not much has changed.  They specialize in Zinfandel, though they do produce a number of other wines.  We started off with a wine called “friends.red” which is a blend of 60% Zinfandel, with Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Syrah, which as the name suggests is a easy drinking food friendly wine.  The Zinfandels did not disappoint us, especially the “Midnight Run”.  We also liked the Port which is made from the same varieties as used in Portugal rather than Zinfandel or Syrah as is commonly done in Sonoma.
