Lambert Bridge
On a previous trip we had visited the Lambert Bridge Winery and had a nice picnic along with a bottle of their wine, and so decided to make a return visit. The winery and tasting room is a rustic building built on a hill side surrounded by a nice garden and picnic grounds.
As we entered the tasting room we were greeted by Gus, the winery dog. Gus looked familiar and we realized that he had been at the next table when we had dinner the first night at outdoor seating at Willi’s Seafood and Raw Bar. Vineyard dogs are part of the relaxed lifestyle of the area and we ran into more than a few as we made the rounds of the wineries.
Unlike many of the wineries in the Dry Creek Valley, Lambert Bridge concentrates more on Bordeaux varieties, though they do produce some Zinfandels and a Petite Sirah. Their reputation has grown since we made our last visit, and unfortunately, so have their prices.
Wines sampled:
2007 Dry Creek Valley Sauvignon Blanc
2007 Sonoma County Voignier
2005 Sonoma County Merlot (described as a Cab lover’s Merlot)
2006 Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel
2006 Dry Creek Valley Petite Sirah
2005 Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon
2006 Sonoma County Cabernet Franc
