First Lunch On The Deck

It’s spring, and that means many “firsts”. But this year, in the new house, it means even more than usual!

We had our first lunch out on the deck of our new house! This was also the first use of the new patio table and the first beer, sausage, cheese and radish lunch of the season. It was a perfect day for all of these firsts, particularly as the temperature was hovering around 65 degrees outside.

The pupster hung out and gave us some “puppy eyes” until we caved in and gave her some cheese and sausage. She thought that she had hit the jackpot when she discovered that we not only had cheese and sausage, but that we had cheese with sausage in it!

She didn’t get any beer. We don’t share our beer.

Every year for the last 12 years we’ve gotten season tickets to American Player’s Theatre, an outdoor, 1150 seat theatre located in Spring Green, WI, situated atop a wooded hill.

It was our first foray of the year, as the play that we had been scheduled to see in June was rained out. Last night was Othello, with one of our favorite actors, Jim DeVita, playing Iago. As usual, he was more than excellent.

And so we packed up our picnic of Tuscan Panini, Tomato and Mozzarrella salad, and an antipasto mixture of olives, salami, cheese, peppers, onions, etc, added a bottle of Terrale Primativo and some shortbread cookies, and headed out to the woods.
