This was no low carb meal. Oh, no. This meal was carbs in all their splendor.
Pasta Carbonara is one of our favorite dishes. It is a pasta treatment that is practically impossible to find locally in restaurants, and even more impossible to find done well.
Our most memorable Carbonara was found in a small, quaint Italian restaurant in Montreal. It forever spoiled us in our search for a spectacular plate of the dish.
I’ve made it myself now for a number of years, always to varying results. It isn’t unusual for the sauce to come out too gummy in my kitchen. Tonight I thought I had found just the right mixture of egg to cream to cheese. It started off good, but as it cooled it got gummy.
Ah well – I’ll keep trying!
On the other hand, there is no way to ruin bruschetta. It is the perfect food. Good bread, Garlic, Olive Oil, Garlic, Tomato, Garlic, Basil, Garlic, Cheese, Garlic and of course…. Garlic.
Who could ask for more?
